Home Cinema First, music very close second.

Panasonic pz80 screen, onkyo 606, Marantz 6002, Pana bd 35 blue ray. Virgin plus box.

I am looking for a speaker package that will balance both music and HC. budget £600 max( I mean max).

the Marantz will be running through the Onkyo,( no seperate hifi amp) so as well as suggested speaker packages, which is the best way to connect it to the amp. Q acoustics, Wharfdale, Kef seem all the rage.

All advice gladly taken, Off to my King Cobra ( 8 bottles in fridge) now so not sure what will happen later.

I'd go for Q acoustics 1010i 5.1 to start with. If the stereo sound isn't up to muster, you can always add some 1030s or 1050s as fronts later to make 7.1 (sounds great by the way). Other option on your budget would be a set of Quad Lites. Get your dealer to chuck in some decent speaker cabling, and go for a Chord interconnect, or the Atlas that won this years WHF award.
