matthewpiano:the_lhc:When they're answering questions they talk so fast and over the top of each, that you can't understand a word of it. When given something simple to read they make a mess of it, it would never work. Ant and Dec make it look too easy, which is why people think anyone can do it.
Ant and Dec, Philip Schofield, Fearne Cotton, Cat Deeley, Ben Shepherd, Holly Willoughby - they all make it look so easy because they are so good at it.
Well yes, that was kind of my point! I was with you until Fearne Cotton though, if you ask me she's everything that's wrong with the latest crop of TV presenters. All fluff, no substance, and nothing actually worth saying.
Also, and I appreciate I'm probably alone on this one but does anyone else think there's something wrong with Holly Willoughby? Looks good, sure, seems to do that job (although "over to the judges for their thoughts" every ten minutes isn't exactly taxing...) but there's just..something wrong... I can't put my finger on it exactly it just feels like there's no light or life behind those eyes, I find her quite disturbing to watch.
As for the music dying - it always lives on. The general public have never had much critical gravitas and the acts that appear on prime time mainstream TV are no indication of where music is at. Music is alive and well. There are some great musicians and composers/songwriters out there in all genres and some stunning music being made all over the world. Jedward are just a very miniscule scratch in the dust.
Sometimes TV can spring a surprise, a couple of years back I was off ill and idly flicking through daytime TV when one of those BBC property shows came on and much to my surprise all the background music was Medeski, Martin and Wood! And then the other day I was watching Eurosport, I think it was the snooker and every time they cut to a page of results, again the background music was MMW. It would be nice to think that someone watching either of those might have had their interest piqued enough to find out what it was, probably not though.
