Just received the above Blu-ray through the post from Play.com, something better than britains got talent to watch tonight!

Hey guys, let us know what you think of the movie, watched the original last year and really enjoyed.

Cheers, Alan

Apropos of virtually nothing, we caught Doomsday on Sky HD the other night. Seriously enjoyable movie, we reckoned...

Not a patch on the original, but it wasn't bad. Just not good.

Wouldn't count on it being better...

LOL!

I'm keen to hear what you all thought of it. Even going in with low expectations, I was still a bit disappointed. For a film that sets off at such a cracking pace it manages to lose all the excitement and direction very quickly, and it takes so long to wake up again that I was past caring by the time Gort's admittedly enjoyable rampage began..

The Leisure Lab's The Day The Earth Stood Still Review is up.

To be fair though, the original does the same thing, in terms of pacing (I wouldn't say the original loses direction), it's a consequence of the plot, rather than bad directing or anything like that, I don't see how else it could have been done.

It's not a great film, but it's not bad, although the big plot hole is difficult to swallow (We value life so much we're going to wipe out your entire species! Errr, ok...).
