Howdy...

So I think the time is drawing near and there are enough new features to warrant replacing my trusty Denon AVR-2307 with something new. The standout candidates right now (although not set in stone) are the Denon 3313 or X2000 but I'm struggling to find a good comparison between the two.

If anyone can help here I would be very grateful but also, like I said, this is not set in stone so if there are any viable alternatives that come in under the £600 mark I could be interested.

Many thanks!

The Denon AVR3313 would be my choice....a friend has it and it sounds very good indeed.

It's a bit of a bargain at the moment too, due to the new range that is immerging now.

The 3313 was over £1000 last year....the X2000 is only a £500 machine (albeit a very good machine at that price).

Unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool Denon fan, I'd have to suggest checking out the outgoing Onkyo line including the TX-NR717 and 818, both of which are heavily discounted and new (as opposed to open-box). Several outlets have them, but only Richer Sounds and I think Frank Harvey are doing the 818 for £600. The 717 is around the £500 mark.

Great feedback, thanks very much!

I have actually been looking at Onkyo for the past couple of years but then I popped into my local store yesterday and got to hear the 3313 in the flesh and was pretty amazed. They are going to call me tomorrow with a quote for a discout as it's going out of stock but I would expect it to be going for around 7000 swedish krona (£730) but I have now found the Onkyo for about £700 so I have to some more reading.

Thanks again!

Ok reading was good as now found the Onkyo 818 is a monster when it comes to depth in physical dimensions so now know new one should be under 42cm deep.

You have a Denon, and therefore I presume you like the Denon sound.....therefore I'd buy either a Denon, Marantz or Yamaha as they will sound the most similar to what you have, and like, now.....

Unless your after a different sound???

Considered the Marantz SR6007? Essentially very similar under the skin to the 3313, but more attractive and better build 'feel' to it - the Denon looks cheaper.

I have one and love it, can be had for £550 now.

No, it's the SR7007 that's similar to the 3313. 6007 is similar to 2313.

All great feedback thanks again...now found a Yamaha RX-A1020 for the equivalent of about £680 which, from what I've been reading about it, sounds like a great price for a top piece of kit.

Just been playing around with the Denon 3313 and 2313 today to test airplay from my Android phone and although I loved the sound the connection was a bit flakey....only got it consistently working on the Denon AVR-4520 which is just a teeny weeny bit out of my price bracket :O

Bit late to this now but i find my 3313 to be a bit flat and uninvolving for movies. I'm switching it for a Yamaha 2020. I'm sure the 1020 would be better if you went for that. Only downside to not choosing th 3313 is that you lose the matrixed third HDMI if you select the 2020 or 1020.
