Hi Shrek, I've been trying to reply to your latest advice, but my reply keeps being blocked as it's deemed spam like or inappropriate. No matter how many times I've edited it it still gets blocked so I've started a new thread, and to keep it simple , thank you for all your help.
Best wishes,
Mick

Your welcome hope its all sorted for you now .

Yes thanks Shrek, in so much as there is very little difference between the the highest volume and the lowest, there being only three settings. A bit disappointing really, I have a modest size living room, and although I love surround sound I didn't want it quite so loud. It does have a rich sound, and speech is nice and clear so I will have to live with it. Your help has been invaluable, so thanks again for that.
Best wishes,
Mick

Mick are you sure there are only 3 settings watch the led lights has you lower the volume. put it in cinematic mode then lower the rear speakers to lowest level.

Thanks again Shrek. I did fumble around with the controls last night, and believe I have lowered the sound, maybe too low on the tv as now I have to turn the tv volume up much higher than before, perhaps I've disengaged the WOW orchestra setting ? . Incidentally does it matter which remote, tv or soundbar, to alter the tv volume ? I've printed off your attachment, looks most useful, unfortunately I will be out most of the day so won't be able to try it out until tonight, or tomorrow. Now I need to sort out how to change the tv settings to cinematic mode ( if it isn't in it already), very nice getting someone to set up the kit for you, and although he did give me a quick run through on operating it, which I should have written down of course, I don't really know how it's configured .
Kind regards,
Mick

Hi Again Mick I don't use the WOW setting this is the root of your problem i believe. Turn it off see attachment below. By turning the WOW setting OFF the TV speakers will be OFF and you will only hear sound from the sound bar the TV speakers over power the sound bar and ruin the effect.

It doesn't matter what remote you use.
To change the setting to cinematic mode you do this on the sound bar not the TV.
Using the sounder remote press the button under the volume button then press the circular button on the sound bar remote to the right keep pressing it until you hear the AI voice say cinema.
Turn of all AI sound settings on the TV doing so you will benefit from Dolby sound.

you will get there in the end there are a lot of features on the TV & sound bar
here's the link

feel free to ask if there's any thing else .

Hi Shrek, followed your advice, and yes that's much better thank you. The only other question I would ask is with my old Samsung tv once you set the volume it stayed at the same level whichever channel you switched to, of course there was no soundbar or surround sound, with the LG C5 if i change channel the sound is either incredibly high, or low. Is there a way of setting the volume for all channels 🤔
Very many thanks for your time, advice and patience.
Mick

Yes, thanks Shrek, wouldn't have got there without you🙂 much obliged for all your help. Dunno what model number the Samsung tv was, it was purchased from Comet long before they ceased trading to give you some idea of the age of it. It was/is still going strong ( I donated it to a charity) the reason for changing was my DVD home theatre with wired speakers packed up so decided to renew and upgrade. It was a 3D player, though the tv wasn't and I wasn't interested in that feature, but it was a time when manufactures were pushing 3D so had little choice, and was brought at the same time as the tv. I will indeed continue experimenting with the soundbar, and hope I don't mess up what I've already achieved, thankfully I still have your instructions to fall back on 😊.
Once again, thank you for your tremendous help.
Very best wishes,
Mick.

Hi again Mick so glad you can hear a positive difference you wont mess it up just leave the WOW setting off on the TV.
The other setting i would change is on the TV for a better picture long press the settings button on the TV remote go to General then scroll down to Energy Saving turn this OFF then go back to picture settings and change the brightness and so on to your preference dont use the personlized picture wizard have fun 😉
