I recently bought the Tannoy SFX 5.1 but it's still in the box. I actually wanted the older EFX model as i like the look better with the metal grill and not the cloth finish of the SFX (black). besides looks which one would give me better performance?

One of my concerns is the sound on stereo. I understand sat's are no where as good as bookshelves but i'm stuck for space.

The av amp i'm using is the Onkyo TX-SR606.

this is not my main system but one for my games room which is 6m by 5m.

Hi there
Saw your other post but made sense to reply here. I haven't heard either of these speaker sets I'm afraid and having done a tiny amount of research, it doesn't look like there's anything to separate them from reading alone. You're right in that, musically, any style system will suffer due to the laws of physics - the small boxes just can't create the sound some stand mounts can, but if you're stuck for space, you'll probably have to compromise on this. The only style system I've heard around that money are the KEF 2005s (originals), but I haven't listened to music through them I'm afraid. They were very good for home cinema surround for the money though.
Are the SFX's still in the box because you're thinking of sending them back? If so, did you buy them online / over the phone and if so, how long ago? If recently, it's worth knowing (if you didn't already), that the distance selling act allows you to trial something you've bought over the internet / mail order and entitles you to a full refund if you return the item within 7 days. If you received it recently therefore, you would be fully entitled to unbox it, try it out for a couple of days and then send it back if you didn't like it (you'd have to pay for postage back to the retailer though).
