Looking for a nice stereo amp to match these Tannoy SE. Is the Rotel RA-10 good enough for it? Any other suggestions? Also have to match it with Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 2i MK2.

Thanks for the help.

Hi

I have just bought the same speakers and matched them with Cyrus 6a. It is very detailed; however can be bright at the top end. I have bought some vanne damme speaker cable to try to take some of the brightness out.

If I was to buy again I would go for Roksan K2 amp.

Hi

That was my second choice good reviews for a decent price. I would suggest dont make the same mistake as me and find a good retaiter to listen to the amp.

If it were me I'd certainly like to match the smooth detailed sound of Arcam's FMJ amps to the Tannoys. Rega's Brio-R would be another lovely match as would a Naim Nait 5i.

Not heard a Cyrus amp matched to the Tannoys, but knowing the Cyrus house sound, I can quite imagine the issues resulting from mating the Cyrus treble to Tannoy's tulip-waved metal domes! 😛

thank you so much for your inputs. I just heard the arcam a19 and loved it, it's really my type of amp. So will it really match with the Tannoys? Or should I go with something else?

Hifi is not about what we think, but what you think........FWIW. It's a match I would put forward for you to try.

If you already like the A19, then you should go for it. ... Alhough, whether it is enough to get the Tannoys going depends on your preferred listening levels, and size of room. Have you considered and listened to the discontinued A28 and A38? They have more power on tap than the A19 and may suit you better especially if you like listening at higher volumes. Just a thought.

Then there is Myryad. iirc, a former Arcam tech designer went over to this company with the effect that Myryad amps do take after Arcam's fine neutrality. I like the Z140, its a communicative 50-watter. Its successor is the Z142, which offers a future option of biamping with the companion Z162 power amp for better control of the Tannoys. Worth considering.

I have the DC6T SE's currently on a yamaha mcr 810. The speakers are indeed very easy to drive.
Maybe i'll buy a dedicated amplifier later on.
I'm thinking one of these:

marantz PM6005

or

rotel ra 1570

I'm looking for better separation from medium volume and up.
And also a touch more low end, but tight low end. Would the Marantz do that?

I've got the DC6T SE's hooked up to a Marantz PM6004 and the combination sounds sublime.

The only issue I have is the too harsh bass from the Arcam rLink DAC I've had to introduce with the Felston DD740 digital delay unit to fix a lip sync issue from my Home Theatre PC to Samsung TV.

Hi,

Greetings from Philippines! I also have a Tannoy DC6T SE. Can I ask how this will perform on a tube amp, specifically on a Cayin A50T? Will the speakers be maximized with a tube amp or a solid state amp? Thanks for your reply.
