Tannoy Mercury F1 or Mercury F2?

Hello everyone,

(new user here so hope it works!)

I was looking for a bit of advice. I have budget-end kit (bought on a budget a few years ago during my student days!), but am starting to upgrade bit by bit as and when I get the money.Starting with the speakers - the current ones are at least 25 years old and pretty hideous to boot.

I've read highly favourable reviews of the Tannoy Mercury F1s, and they are very tempting as I still am on a limited budget. However, I've not seen anything about the F2s, and was wondering if they are worth the extra money, or whether I should stick with the F1s. What are the main differences?

FWIW, I tend to listen mostly to things on the rockier end of the spectrum, but also a fair amount of jazz and choral.

In my experience they deliver a bigger, more extended bass, but without losing midband/treble clarity. I suggest you take a listen and decide for yourself whether they're worth the extra...
