Mine arrived today, £23.25 from Amazon, and I have to say it's the best upgrade I've made in a long while.

I was taken aback (somewhat surprisingly so) by the improvement in picture quality across the board - noise is now all but eliminated, leaving an exceptionally clean, crisp image. While Sky+ looks just a tad better than before, I am delighted with the improvement to Blu-ray - images look sharper and more three-dimensional than ever, and any slight niggles I may have had with my BD80's performance have been all but erased.

Of course, sound quality's been given an equal boost, with HD audio in particular sounding better than ever. The crunching and grinding of metal as Bond's Aston Martin flips seven times in Casino Royale now sounds even clearer and more realistic.

Overall, even though I've had it less than a day, I heartily recommend the Tacima - while my system was performing well before, this product has made it even better, to an extent I hadn't expected.

I have Tacima CS929 on order

Due to the demands on power amplifier circuits should I plug my Yamaha Z7 into the Tacima or should it be in a stand alone power outlet?

igglebert:Plug your amp into the wall.

Could you explain why?

Read something about this b/4, but can't remember what it said exactly.

I'm not an engineer but I understand that the current demands made by a power amp may not be very well served by the Tacima or many mains conditioners/filters, i.e. it may be a little throttled and held back, impacting dynamics. This view was shared by the gent that rebuilt my Quad amp; he said to use a wall socket.

So why buy a 6 way Tacima if it is no good for your amp

Do you get such a thing as a single mains cable with an IEC plug which cleans the mains ,as opposed to RF filtering which is what most replacement cables seem to do?

Or am I missing something?

Regards

Andy

You would buy one for the TV, pre-amp (if you have a separate one), CDP, DVD, tuner, etc.

The mains cables that you can buy are merely high quality connections with shielded or braided wire to shield/cancel RFI. The Tacima is a filter as it actually has a filter device in it, but it also has a shielded cable to it. If you look at Russ Andrews power blocks they don't have a filter but are high in build quality, also requiring an additional IEC connector for the plug.

I bought two, installed them last week. Most noticeable differences are a higher, metallic sound on guitars, but also greater differentiation in sound too - I can now hear individual strings clearly from each other. If your system's bright-sounding, approach with caution, if it's warm it'll open it up a bit more. haven't really noticed much difference running blu's to screen, but V+ appears to be a little clearer. TV screen is running off Russ Andrews Yello with Silencer also.

My amps are plugged into one of my 2 Tacimas and they sound great. Mind you I don't have much choice as I have 12 plugs and only 2 sockets.
