Tablet for HRA playback - Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes.....

Can I play FLAC files on a Samsung Tab4 (or similar), routing the signal by wire into something like the Quad Vena?

Seemed like a reasonable proposition to me but a salesman in a local Hi Fi shop seemed to think it wouldn't work; took the wind out of my sails!

Anyone know? I would be grateful for any advice / opinions

Nexus 5 plays HRA and quite a few others do too, but finding out the relevant models is trickier as it's rarely advertised.

Android 5 (Lollipop) adds usb audio support, so u should be able to hook it up.

So you reckon, Another Joe, that if I get a lollipop enabled tablet I should be able to play gapless FLAC files into an outboard DAC?

Personally I would prefer that option to either a NAS or network player.
