Very happy with it!!!

looking good, very compact, the floorstanders make the whole package seem chunky'er 🙂

Thanks. For some reason the camera makes it all look really compact but actually sat in the room it doesn't appear that way.

Sorry Ben to discuss in two threads. Looks good. Did u find the change from stands to floorstanders significant? I think better for music 2ch but what about 5.1? I have always had fs but wonder if you loose a?ything? Only academic interest which may help others too?

Cheers

Thanks cno.

Robin I found sm to be a tighter sound but lacked body and scale. FS seem more complete. For 5.1 again a little more impact with fs compared with sm. I think if I was building a pure cinema system I would probably use the money to buy better quality small speakers and sub as they would take up less space and in theory sq may be better with the sub taking care of the heavy stuff leaving the sm to do what they do best. Swings and roundabouts perhaps. I mostly listen to 2 channel stereo to be honest though and find the fs speakers to be much better for my tastes.

Cheers Ben. I think yr comments kinda backup my thoughts. Yr fs sem to have plenty of breathing space and firing down the room I suspect it sounds as good as it looks.

Hard to tell from the pics but the speakers are 18 inches from the back wall. They sounded a little less clean in the bass when i placed them nearer than that. Ideally I would like them further apart to form the ideal equilateral triangle but room constraints do not allow it.

Hi David

I kept the power cable as to my ears it gives deeper tighter bass and lifts the mid range while connected to my integrated amp. I found no improvement when connected to my cdp so won't be buying a second one.

I also did a blind test for a friend who came round who is not into hifi really and he preferred the sound of the upgraded cable saying to him it just sounded better.

hi ben, great to here you have heard an improvement with your new cable,i will be picking up my silver line optimus from clearer audio on monday, will b checking it out on my tv to see if it improves pq,also checking out on the rest of my system,i updated my arcam bdp100 to the the arcam bdp300 it really is a much player all round. cheers david

Hi David. Let me know how you get on with it once you get it. I am hoping to get the arcam bdp300 when the time comes to upgrade the blu ray. I will keep my eye open and eventually pick up an ex demo for a good price.

will do ben,am really impressed buy the bdp 300.if your looking to do some cheaper upgrades ben have a look at analog seduction website look up mains and fuses ,i upgraded my fuses to the furtec fuses ,i didnt think the would make a diffrence but i was wrong i know they do diffrent fuses at diffrent prices to suit your budget but it's worth having a go,you can also return if it dosen't make a diffrence,i was quite surprised how it improved the sound cheers david

hi ben ,just to let you know i have had my silver line optimus cable in my bdp 300 for two days now ,all i can say it's fantastic, let say it out performs my xlo cable which was almost 5 times the price .the day started on a bad note the russ andrew mains block went kerput,so i phoned darren at clearer audio and he had a block that a custmer changed his mind for a diffrent spek,,so i ended up two birthday prezzies fom the wife ,all i can say with two new bits in my hifi really has made a huge improvement, darren power hubs are really well built,so if your ever in need of a new power hub be shore to check them out.cheers david
