I have just had a new Sony Bravia TV i wont bore you with details and I am considering having a PS3 would anyone suggest getting a surge protected extension lead?

Iv never had any problems before but after reading another post on here its got me thinking?

I've always used surge protection on all my electrical stuff - not had a problem so far but then it just makes sense really rather than having to go through the hassle of replacing a load of stuff through the house insurance if I do get an issue.

Thanks guys I will be investing one of them today after iv got my iPod sorted

A sensible precaution, why not try a Tacima CS929 Conditioner
6 Way Mains Conditioner and Filter?
(What Hi-Fi 5 Stars). I bought one off E Bay for £25 last month and it made a big difference to the sound quality as well.
Having circuit breakers in the fuse box adds to safety as they respond quicker to surge. Don't think anything can help much though if lightning strikes the house!

and when it does, anything plugged in will fry. and if your crt tv is on at the time and you happen to be bent down in front of it pressing eject on your dvd player when lightening hits the aerial, you'll jump so much you leave teeth marks in the ceiling.
