Hi all,I have a budget of £1000 to buy some boxes. Needs to play radio (would like FM but could do just internet at a push) and needs to play FLACs over wired LAN. Amp needs to drive Tannoy DC6Ts and only existing source I'd retain is a Project Debut turntable so a phono stage would be useful.Ideas and recommendations appreciated.

Onkyo TX-NR818 (over the newer 828 which I think is a slightly lesser spec). FM radio, internet radio, handles FLAC, real world power that'll handle the Tannoys with ease. Lovely detailed, clear sound and you'll get one for about £600 from the original £1000. Other models are out there.

Not sure it would have enough oomph. My current amp is 50w a channel and I was thinking probably a bit more than that to be honest.

Thanks. Isn't that an AV Receiver rather than a stereo amp? I have a 5.1 setup in the living room. Looking to replace an old Technics amp, cd player and tuner (keeping my turntable and speakers because they're fairly recent and perform well).

It is, but you mentioned internet radio, FLAC...plus it's a network receiver, so you have internet connectivity. I ditched straight stereo integrated amps - they don't offer what I need and the sound quality of the Onkyo delivers.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your opinion - that's why I'm here, but I was thinking something more like a Pioneer N50 or Marantz NA7004 for streaming, maybe a tuner and a HiFi amp.

That's fine - but said amp does all that (or others like it). If multiple boxes are what you're after, then that's not an issue, but I wanted something that did all of that, did it well, but delivered it in one box without sacrificing sound quality.

Well the post went cold quite quickly, so in the absence of any inspired ideas I've ordered a Marantz NA7004 and Pearl Lite Amp to go with the Project turntable and Tannoy speakers.

You can now tell me what a terrible mistake I've made and how the money could have been spent ;)
