Suggestion: There should be a place for dealers to post offers.....

I think there should be a dedicated place within the forum where members like Frank Harvey Hi-Fi, The Home Cinema Centre & Musicraft should be able to offer exclusive discounts for forum members.

Maybe something that could be incorporated in the new site

oooo that sounds good

Andrew Everard:There are dedicated places - one across the top of the site, one down the righthand side...

Of course you know what I mean Andrew! Forum members will definitely enjoy the odd bonus offers coming along the way, apart from feeling "special" as the offer will be only for WHF members.

Except of course it won't, as the Forums are open for anyone to read.

One way round that would be that the forum members will have to use their forum ids to avail of the discount.

Anyway, this was just a suggestion.

Nothing to stop anyone reading the forums saying 'hi, I'm bigboss and I claim my discount'...

That'll definitely increase the traffic on What Hi-Fi website (people looking for discounts online).......isn't that good?

I think this will work if private messaging is incorporated in the next update. Members will have to pm the dealer for the discount code.

Maybe there could be a small fee for dealers to pay to post on that area, so that everyone benefits.

(Becoming more complicated now......)

Yes, it is rather. When it gets that complex perhaps the retailers in question should be using the normal advertising positions, and users can just click through for the special offers.

And a small fee? I'm not sure we do small fees...

And perhaps the dealers in question don't really want to offer anyone an additional discount, especially if they have to pay extra for the privilege of making people aware of it.

Anyway I'm sure if I walked into Frank Harvey Hi-Fi, asked for David, told him who I am and asked for a discount he'd be amenable. Or he'd have me thrown out, one of the two...

yep i am pretty sure i would use the same tactic when dealing with David or Nick.

I bet most people on here know how to get there discounts anyway, i know i have several tricks.

Probably the latter tbh.

In any case when was the last time you actually went into a hi fi shop and actually 'purchased' anything ?

Back on topic - other forums have dealer sections where they can post. I think the dealers pay a sponsership of the forums type fee.....

June 2009, TV and BDP, no tell a lie bought some QED Micro from Gullifords in Exeter sometime this year, can't remember when.

When was the last time you walked in and DIDN'T purchase something?
