Hi all,

Following a recent upturn in the property market i could be about to find myself in possession of a flipping

great wedge of cold hard cash, following advice on this forum i purchased a Dac Magic that works fine, in

true hifi spirit i would probably upgrade if others had reasonable suggestions for me to sample.

Having sold all my CD's down the car boot i am currently using spotify via an airport onto a

cyrus pre xvs

cyrus power x

& PSX-r

and finally Epos M12.2

I am also open to any possible speaker advice.

Thanks in advance

Audition the ATC and Spendor range of speakers to see which suits your tastes. I hear the ATC SCM40 is rather good if you have the room, if not, the SCM19 is an excellent standmounter.

If you like the Cyrus sound then try the DAC X. If you're feeling even more flush and have taken advantage of a speaker upgrade then the new Naim Dac is meant to be stunning. It should be at £2k though.

I'm quite enjoying spending your cash, so how about:
ATC SCM19
A second Cyrus XPower
A Naim DAC

And I thought this might stay civil for a minute

Messiah's idea is (I suspect) a good option, but if you wanted to stay with Cyrus there's always the DAC X (one more box) or the DAC XP (replacing the Pre and thus keeping the same number of boxes)...

I'm not sure about speakers for Cyrus...

Keep your DacMagic, and send it to AudioUpgrades for a Level 3 upgrade with Burson opamps. I'm pretty sure the £400 (incl. postage) will give you a Cyrus killer DAC. Mine's there at the moment, I had the Burson opamps fitted a few months ago and the difference was amazing after they'd burnt in. I'm now having the Level 3 to finish it off. It won't be able to match the Cyrus' power supply, but the quality of the internal compnents will be far better. Get a Maplin LB54R power supply to replace the CA one.

I would agree with considering the Audio Upgrade option,I had a level 3 upgrade done to my Beresford before Xmas and the improvement is not subtle, think you would have to spend a good bit to better it but then you can/will be able to afford it! :)

thanks for the replies,

I'm leaning towards a Dac upgrade, i'll probably need some cash for a new house at some point, though some new speakers

might be an idea.
