Subwoofer???

Hi,

I want to add a sub to my system I have a Rotel ra-02 and B&W dm601 s3 speakers. I understand that you can get 2 types of sub an active and passive,at least thats what I think I read along time ago. Which type would I need and have you any suggestion of a good sub for my system?
