Hi,

Im looking at the BK XXXLS400 and Tannoy ts2.12

Used for music/gaming/movies

Need the low end frequencies below 25hz , precision and response for music, attack for gaming

They are paired with crystal acoustics 5.0 setup

tx-t1, thx centre..... etc. and dh820 amp

Budget £450

Which one would be better?

Which one would be better?

I have the BK and it's excellent. I haven't heard the Tannoy so can't compare. However, I think, given the way BK market online only, you get more for your money in terms of components.

Yes very highly thought of the 400 very good with music as well, there is a dedicated thread on these subs BK on another forum if you need any more info. Plus the finishes are top notch to. 8)

Just looked at the Tech specs for each - not a lot of difference although the BK has a bigger enclosure and is much heavier?

I've had my BK 400 for about a month now, it's beautifully made, and I'm especially enjoying the music - lovely deep rumbling bass.

Apart from all the usual modern bassy music, I played some Camille Saint - Saens, the sub really brings out the organ sounds.

I purchased on the strength of online reviews, and value for money (BK only deals direct therefore cutting down their costs).

Thanks for all the help guys, there are alot of very good reviews about the xxls400. I emailed both tannoy and bk. Tom from bk actually took the time to analyze the tonnoy and gave me an unbiased response with the advantages of both subs. A customer also provided real frequency response of the bk sub, where it produced 5.5 dB @ 19.7 Hz. Before even buying the sub their customer service has been very good, so I ordered one today!
