Hi frens,

looking for a new sub... current setup...

Q Acoustics 2020 ( fronts ) + 2000 C ( Center ) + 2010 ( Surrounds )

1. Budget = £ 600

2. Room Dimensions = L x B x H = 20' x 14' x 9' ( feet ) Living hall with opens towards a kitchen.

3. Primary Use = 100 % for Movies.

4. Listening Habits = Action movies

5. Appearance requirements = Size does not matter, i'll find space for it as long as it gives me excellent bass.

My front sound stage will be small as my left/right speakers are bookshelves. So i need a sub which will integerate better with bookshelves.

The Subwoofer should be able to....

- Shake my hall & make things vibrate.
- Smash my window panes.
- Make me want to watch movies after movies.
- Annoy my neighbours.
- Go deep deep deep. As deep as the Movie Demands.
- Eat the most demanding movie soundtracks for lunch.
- Invoke fear in my Dog everytime i get ready to watch a movie.
- Destroy everything in it's path.

Which are the top 3 subs should i consider & why ?!?

Thanks ;-)

I did leave a message on this thread yesterday...I guess it got deleted for some reason...

It said the following.....

I'd buy the QA 2050 floorstanders, if you have room, then buy the AE Radiance sub, which is being offered at £205 (RRP £600) on a certain well known auction site. These are 'B' stock, but mine seems brand new......

If floorstanders are no good, and your receiver can do it, maybe two of those AE radiance subs would be to your taste......?

The AE1 Radiance is a good choice or the Mission 79AS or the Quad L2 would really get the room shaking and the neighbours well and truly raged !

You wont quite get everything on your list for your budget... You may want to consider the Sub SE from Paradigm, without a doubt the best sub I have heard at the price point. If you want everything on your list have a look at the Paradigm SUB2, not much it can't do!

If size does not matter and you want to break glass then I would say the BK MONOLITH.

People say it compaires to subs over 1000.00. but you cannot try before you buy.

But I have read many a review saying its amazing, but it is a coffee table but no one said one bad thing about it and BK used to provide subwoofer speakers to REL.

I would buy better speakers though, maybe the BR5 or BX5 and a smaller subwoofer.

You can get wicked deals on the BR5 right now, which I think would offer a good upgrade.

guys i'm getting a used 3 yr old REL Strata 5 for £ 480....???

is it still good after so many years....how would it compare to monolith & XXLS400...?

thanks
