Subwoofer Question

Personally I turn my off, unless you have a proper mains protection/surge lead cause when that sucker blows it just might hit the Rickter Scale

professorhat:
Mine is left on permanently. Has been for about 5 years - it doesn't have a standby mode or even an off switch.

I leave my PV1 on 24/7 too. Only because it was a bit tardy clicking on from auto mode.

Big Chris and Professor Hat, just think of the power you are using by having it on standby (or "on" for that matter). If you add it up over the years, it could fund a new piece of equipment, by turning it off and help save the environment lol 😛

I tend to turn mine off, but it's in a slightly hard to reach spot, so when I've been on the red it's a bit of a fit of acrobatics to get at it...!

I better not tell you that I leave my Arcam amp & CD on 24/7 too then.

Oops!

Some subs are designed so they can be left on all the time.

They only draw a current when a signal is detected, but you should check your manufacturers design.

jasonsony735:Should a Subwoofer always be left on Standby ? or turned of from the mains when not in use ?I leave both my subs switched on 24/7 in my instruction manual it did say that i could either leave em switched on permanently & that it wouldnt do em any harm.

I did used to turn em off at one time (dont know why just a habit) but then id always forget to turn em back on again, id be watching a movie or listening to music then suddenly realise the bass wasnt there, that was then the reason why i always left em switched on.
