sub woofer causes main speaker hum

Hi

With my sub woofer turned on there's a very notifiable hum coming from the main left and right speakers.

Any idea what's causing this ? I have an AV processor connected to my Naim two channel amp and the sub is next to the equipment.

I'm assuming that interference from the sub is being picked up by the connection between the processor and amp ?

It's a fairly cheap Paragym sub well over 10 years old so could it be it's just had it ?

Any suggestions greatfully appreciated!

Have you tried plugging the sub into a different wall outlet than the rest of your system? Also try the TV in a different outlet. Has the problem just started? Could be interference on your interconnect. Could be an earthloop. Could be a dying sub. Could be a dying receiver.
