Sub from KHT 2005.2 just buzzing

Loudly 🙁 It doesn't want to make any other noise. For a while it's been reluctant to turn on when in automatic mode, so had to use manual. I'm assuming it's dead. Now, as some of you may know I've been using it with my MAs and am looking to get a BK sub, and use my Kef sub+sats for the new dining room. So, is it worth repairing, if not, what is a worthy replacement to go with the eggs, not the MAs? 3.9x3.4m room, budget constrained, as mostly allocated to the BK...

You're not the first and not the last. Mine went the same as have may others. Repair from I can gather is around £115. Prob best buying a new sub.

Ouch. At that price, I assume they just swap in a new on-board amp!

So, question is, what relatively inexpensive, cheap, partner friendly sub will match the eggs?

I am just off to bed but there is a thread on here which gives a link to a guy who repairs the boards far cheaper or even provides a kit to repair yourself if you are up for it. If you haven't found it tomorrow ,I'll search it out .

From what I recall ,it's a small part and a common failure. (cue female laughter)

Also if you want to change, just search on this site for kef subwoofer,and there are several recommendations for change.

Thanks for that rdg 🙂 I had a quick look at the repair details last night, but I was a bit tired and so I was having trouble taking it all in. Will have another look over the weekend.

Trouble is, now I've started thinking about replacing it, I can feel a case of upgrade-it is setting in 😉
