Hi

I’m looking for a new micro/mini system and I think it will be either the
MARANTZ CR502 or the DENON DF107DAB+ due to the size of the units
I was going to get the HARMAN KARDON HK980 AMPLIFIER & HD980 CD PLAYER & TU980 DAB/FM/AM TUNER but it looks too big

Anyway the speakers will be placed either side of the unit about 1m apart so I want some that look different not box shaped at all!

So far I’ve seen the
KEF HTS2001.3 SPEAKERS (PAIR) and the Mordaunt Short Genie

I want some good sounding style speakers as I will be adding a sub to take care of the bass

So can anyone tell me if either of the speakers are good or suggest others? I don’t want to spend too much - around £300 and as I say normal speaker box shape is not an option (I have 2 pairs of Tannoy F4s for the living room)

I want style speakers to keep the other half happy

Also which of the systems would be best?

Thank you for any help

Take a look at focal lab sib or focal lab dome. pair of sibs approx £249 , dome a bit dearer but under £500 i think.

B&W M-1s with the ASW608 sub - given the great review the MT-25 package got in the latest issue, this could potentially work well for music as well. I use the M-1s as rears in my setup and they are fantastic little speakers.

You should look at Wharfedale Evo2-8 or Evo2-10. A speaker that is discounted heavily here in North America, and I've read in the UK as well. I just bought a pair from the U.S. brand new at 60% off. Not boxy at all, in fact the cabinet is curved, and it has a cool looking kevlar woven driver. They are probably not as easy as some speakers to drive, so keep that in mind. 6ohm, 87db sensitivity.

I'll 2nd the B&W M1s plus subwoofer. Although i don't use mine for Hi-Fi duties, I do watch a lot of music DVDs. Sounds great.

FYI, they're available in Black, Silver & White, although floor stands for the speakers are only available in Black & Silver.
