I have a home studio setup with some Focal Trios, and a Universal Audio soundcard, connected to desktop pc that stays on constantly (life in the tropics and high humidity). Im looking for a solution to stream audio from an android phone via this setup at decent quality.
I know there are hardware options such as chromecast and Wiim pro etc, but surely if the desktop is connected via my wifi network, there must be software options available that can facilitate this? I'm a noob when it comes to streaming protocols - my confusion lies within the concept that it seems to me you are just sending ones and zeros for a DAC (in this case the Universal Audio Apollo) to decipher - and Im scratching my head as to why a hardware unit within this chain should make a difference here?
Any help much appreciated!
