Its only just started doing this, every time i change the volume on my audiolab amp i get a static shock ?

should i look at earthing my amps, i know theres an earthing option on the back, but ill have to root my instructions out.

Anyone have these problems? earthed there kit?

Years ago had a similar problem - it turned out to be a nylon carpet in the new house we had moved into (it was 30 years ago) - I learnt to move slowly so as not to build up the static in my body. Never again had a nylon carpet.

As far as earthing - I read you can take a lead from the earthing point on your kit to a nearby gas pipe - you would need to scratch paint off the pipe to make a contact

As this has only just started happening, have you changed your footwear/clothing? Laid a new mat or carpeting? It could be yourself that is generating and storing the charge, which is then drained when you touch your amp, which should be earthed via its mains plug?
