Love my RS1's but they do lack a bit of bass! Struggling with some of my Morcheeba & Massive Attack!

I still want the musicality of the Rega's - what should i be looking at demoing to match my Brio R amp?

thanks

Ps my stands are 2/3rds sand filled Atacama SE24s, solid carpeted floor room is 4x3m with high ceiling

Have you moved yet? this could be pivotal when deciding.

If you want bass then I'd say your amp would struggle with speakers that would give you what you want in that department. Have you considered a sub?

I did not like the RS1s at all, the B&W CM1s I thought were much better (more open, less veiled) however the Kef LS50s were even better although I have not heard them with Rega amp I think may struggle to really drive them maybe the R100s would be better? I think if you get the LS50s you will want to upgrade your amp. fairly soon. I did find LS50s good at low volumes, felt they needed abit of wellie behind them, so not for me and they are only 85db so not very sensitive.

If you want more bass have a look at Epos Epic 3s, should be similar to the RS1s but more bass. Or the new AE 301s?

Must say the R100 & LS50 look promising!

Seems that upgrading my speakers means a better amp - maybe I should wait for the Elicit R!

its a vicious circle this hi-fi upgrade lark!

The Neat Motive 3 was group test winner in this months HI Fi Choice. Good deep bass for a standmount. I have Dynaudio Excite x12 which is another one to consider (and cheaper)

Have you gone off the idea of Neat Motive 3? Could also consider MA RX1 or the Dyns DM 26

funny you mention the Neats, had them on home demo and they didnt work in my room so swapped them for RS1, the Motive 3 were ex demo bargain at £600.

I may try the Motive 3 again in my new room - they sounded fantastic in the shop demo room - How about Totem Mitre? or Dreamcatchers?

You can get some S/H R7's for around £600 and RS7 I have seen go for £900 Ex-Demo. Could be worth a look. Dont know how well they will work in your room, the room I had mine in was around 3.5m x 7m (long Kitchen/Diner/Living Room).

I loved the R3's but not sure they would satisfy you with the extra depth you want.

Eh? Wouldn't of thought so...

I agree....especially with the R100s.

If you like the Rega sound, perhaps try and home demo RS3 or if you could find RS7 at a good price

think they would satisfy your needs.

I recently heard the DM 2/6, DM 2/7's and X12's with Rega Brio-R.

If you want a bit more bass I would suggest the DM2/7's. They sounded very good.

My personal favourite however was the X12's.

It might be worth looking at again Steve. Different room may suit better and you really liked these.

They keep getting better with each step up in source and with the Nait XS I demoed with as well.

Paul, What were the other speakers pitched against the Motive 3 out of curiousity. The only possible tempter for me would be LS50, purely based upon readings on net however. But really, I am more than happy with Motive 3s.

Good Luck!

Not heard those Totems. Certainly the Arros should suit the Rega, and probably need less room than some of the standmounters mentioned. I would suggest that if you find the Motives too bass heavy then RS3, 5 and 7 will only exacerbate that.
