from Daniel Ek, the founder, http://www.mobile-phones.co.uk/news/mobile-phones/spotify-for-iphone-confirmed_M10215.html

"We want to be everywhere. We won't only do one device. Portability is an important aspect, as well as interoperability with other devices. This is definitely something we think is a premium product that people are willing to pay for," said Ek. "Being able to bring the music with you or being able to have it working on your stereo."

So premium only, that is ok with me though. It'll be interesting to see how they pull this one off, Apple are not that keen on additional fee based services not going via the Apple store.

It uses the Ogg Vorbis codec at the default -5 setting and it is about 160kbps, so in between iTunes and iTunes plus AACs.

Nice sound I agree, not quite lossless, but the convenience more than makes up for it.

I've been on a deep early 80s dive all day.

Its a revelation for me ,I am discovering loads of new music at the click of a mouse ,you also get a sense of the the qaulity of the recoding even though it' s only 160kps. .Compared to CD its lacking dynamics and emotion but I find its easy enough on the ears and the bass is full and punchy.
