I am thinking about add a musical fidelity v-link as it will support 24 bit/96khz, i am using the usb connection on the dac which im told is only able to play music at 16/44khz, i use spotify as my source, does spotify support 24/96 playback? will adding the v-link be a good upgrade for use with spotify premium?

If you only listen to spotify and you're only getting it for the hi-res support then probably yes. I couldn't comment on whether it'll sound better than your other dac in general though.

There's quite a bit of mainstream music available at 96/24 (e.g. HDTracks) but almost none at 192/24 - and that whch there is is pretty wacky/left-field. Having said that, the V-Link will do good stuff almost irrespective of source rate.

Possibly your best bet would be to get a V-DAC II as this will upsample spotify to 24/192 using the Asynchronous USB technology found in the V-Link.
