Hi

Has anyone tried using a subwoofer with these speakers? Does it work well, or are they better without?

This question does not have a simple answer, as it depends on:

- The size of the room they are in.
- The preference of the person listening to them
- How well they are being driven
- The type of music that they are being used for
- How subtly and well the integration with the sub is done
- The quality of the sub.

IIRC. There was a member on this forum who was very pleased with the result of adding a sub.

Here is an old thread: http://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/subwoofer-spendor-sa1

Whether a sub works well with a speaker depends on many things - mainly the quality of the sub itself, and how it is set up. All being well, you should be able to close your eyes and not be able to tell that you're listening to a small pair of speakers and a subwoofer. If you can't, the sub is attracting attention to its or either because of incorrect setup, or producing unwanted noise in the form of distortion or cabinet coloration.

If you're going to do it, do it properly and don't skimp on the sub, otherwise you're better off without.
