i am toying with buying a new speaker package to be wall mounted into quite a large room (so will put 4-6 speakers up for coverage) and was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions / experience with these. typical ones i have been looking at are the B&W mt-25/30..kef..etc.

it will be just for music..no av, and hooked into an Arcam amp connected to Sonos ZP-80.

thanks

Don't go there...

... For music you need two full size speakers.

Spendor do some wall mounting speakers (SR5) that might work - I've just bought some as rear speakers but haven't been able to wire them up yet.

Though I've not heard the KEF 3005 system with music (only movies), I think quite a few who have compared the B&W M1s vs the KEF 3001s preferred the KEFs - hopefully those with experience can post their findings. The M1s are very good though - I'd recommend getting an audition between the two (take your amp along) to help you decide if you're set on one of these.

As angelface says, ideally for music you want a pair of standmount / floorstanding speakers, but if you're restricted to smaller speakers because of aesthetics, maybe have a look at the Arcam Muso / Logo system as a compromise between the two?

There's some good prices floating around on their KHT5005.2 packages at the moment - not much more than the 3005's. Great package for less than a grand, well worth considering.

I have the Kef 3005 in my home cinema set up & preferred them to the B&W, which I have a pair of in my conservatory running through the B set of terminals on my home cinema amp - they do the job for a bit of music in the conservatory but wouldn't want them for my main hifi.

it does need to be style package. not possible to have floor/standers as the wife factor comes into play. have b&w new 6 series in other room so am sure they wont be as good, but needs must.. 🙂
