Speaker Spike Configuration

Currently have my floorstanders stuck with bluetack onto plinths (tesco granite worktop saver)which are spiked to the floor. My floor is suspended timber with no carpet. Has anyone done this or would the best configuration be to have the plinth sitting directly on the floor with the speakers isolated from it on spikes?
Not complaining about the sound just wondering (without trying it) what the optimum set up is considered to be. Thanks.

Get rid of spikes altogether, they destroy what the granite is trying to do. Granite is a great 'sink' for vibration (only as a base, not a shelf) whereas the spikes essentially 'concentrate' vibration into a point and make things worse. The only benefit of spikes is to allow levelling, but there are alternatives which allow this.

Hi Teardrop - My floor is fairly uneven so the spikes would be helping with levelling. What would you recommend I use under the granite if the spikes are removed? Are those Isonode things worth getting or would halved squash balls do the trick?

How uneven is your floor exactly!? Try getting some thick felt which has the sticky side to it - placing a 2p size under each corner of granite can help without defeating what the granite is doing. If the felt isn't thick enough then some hard rubber type feet may help - squash balls are too soft.

I would go for even more blu tak underneath the granite. 5 big blobs per speaker.
