Speaker Recommendation needed

I currently have:

Arcam Alpha AV50, Arcam Aplha 8P power amp and B&W 601 series 2 speakers, I want to upgrade speakers to surround sound to use the AV50 and 8P.

Assuming the 601 are kept for the rear speakers (or considering budget kept as main speakers and new rear speakers bought) can any body recommend, floor standers, centre, sub woofer to compliment this set up (that's cheaper than buying current B&W 600 series)!

Given your budget I would look on ebay for some suitable speakers. Just ensure you match the same series of speakers for the fronts and centre to give you an even tonal balance.

Yep. If you go used get the 603 / 604 floorstanders and matching centre (can't remember the model number, sorry). I can't see you doing better for £400. There're examples of both on eBay right now.

Would it be best to stick to same series (S2) if possible?

Certainly for the front 3. The surrounds as well if you can but these are more flexible.

if it were me i would opt for the b&w 603 s3's as the fronts with the lcr600 as the centre then a decent sub to finish it off.
