Dear all, Hope you can help as i'm a bit new to all this. I have just bought a second hand pair of speakers, they are B&W 603 S3's. I'm facing the wrath of the wife if i don't make them blend seemlessly into our living room! With speakers such as these what are the guidelines for positioning so that they are not too affected by resonnance off walls etc? Would i be committing audio suicide to put them in alcoves in the wall?

Thanks in advance

Nick

Yes, they will boom like crazy. Give adequate space behind and to the side of the speakers. Make sure the distance from floor to bass drivers isn't the same as wall to bass drivers, all three dimensional distances should be different. Eg. drivers to rear wall 70cm, drivers to side wall 50cm, drivers to floor 60cm - though depends on your speaker measurements.
