I have recently acquired a Cyrus CD8x and CA Dacmagic over the Christmas period and have been doing a lot of long listening sessions over the last few weeks. Although i reported at the time that i did not find either the CA or the CD8x bright, i found after some long listening periods, the music to be a little fatiguing. Not much but just a little. Anyway, after a little experimenting i decided to increase the distance between my speakers, and to swap them over (as they have side firing bass drivers) so that the bass drivers face inwards, not outwards. I only moved the speakers about 10 inches each but can't believe the difference it has made. No longer fatiguing, just superb sound. This is the same for both sources. I can't believe what a difference this free upgrade has made.Don't get me wrong, it hasn't completely transformed my system because i was very happy before, it's just put the finishing touches on it.
It may be worth doing the same, for anybody out there that has experienced a little brightness in their system and wants to try something to tame it. I appreciate that people with different speakers may not experience the same affect but it may well be worth trying.
This may well have been said several times before but i just thought i would post my personal experience of this.
Thanks
