Hi. I want to build a reasonable speaker package set up for cinema in a couple of stages. What speakers could I start with at the front that I could then add to as funds permit. I'm thinking between £600 and £1,000 for the fronts. My AV amp will be in the £800-£1,100 range.

Are you looking for standmount or floorstanding speakers for your front pair?

For floorstanders, the new Monitor Audio RX6s have recently been given a great review and won their group test. B&Ws 684s/683s (sorry, can't remember which), also gained a 5 star review in the same test.

If you're quick, the M.A RS6s (and bigger RS8s and standmount RS1s) which are the predecessor to the RX range are going for good money at the moment. Just be aware as they're outgoing models, you may struggle to find the rest of the range when you do the rest of your system.

You could pick up an LCR set of MK M7's a KX12 sub for about £1k, which would outperform many hi-fi AV packages. They're 4ohms, so would need a good amp - something like a THX Onkyo or Yamaha 2065/3900.
