Please clear something up for me.

If I have an amp that will deliver 100w into 8 ohms, and 200w into 4 ohms.....

If I have a speaker at 4 ohms would it go louder than an 8 ohm speaker.

I know about sensitivity..... but if the speakers are identical except for the impedance which goes louder?

As long as the amplifier will provide 200w into 4ohms in a stable manner, and that it's not just a rating the manufacturer has extrapolated to make the amp sound more impressive than it actually is.

Yes by approx. 3db

I agree... all things being equal a halving of the impedence will double the current and so double the power (which is why its important the amp can actually deliver the extra current), which equates to 3db increase in sound pressure.

SLightly different angle David, Asked this question in a different thread. dynamic head room. I have a measurement on my yamaha as2000 of quote 8 ohms ....0.67 dbs .if that makes any sense ? Dynamic power spec of 2 x 100 watts in 8 ohms.

Is that this poor /fair /good ?

I've not seen that type of measurement in any specs before myself. The problem is, that any rating into a given impedance, is going to be different into a different impedance, so it's not likely to be anything meaningful.
