Hello All,

I'm looking for some suggestions to kick of my hunt for some new speakers.

Current system is:

Amp: Musical Fidelity A5

CD: MF A3.2

Speakers: Triangle Zerius 202

Interconnet: Van den Hul The First Ultimate

Speaker Cable: Can't recall off top of my head, but good quality.

The A5 is a fairly new addition and I feel that the Triangles (although they've served me well) aren't able to take full advantage. I want to get out and demo some replacements, but have no idea where to start. I have about £2000 to spend (hopefully match level of amp) and am looking for a highly involving sound even at moderate volume (terrace house with thinish walls...). Speaker size isn't to much of an issue, but would prefer sound quality over brute strength.

For what it's worth I mostly listen to various flavours of rock.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

New: PMC GB1s, Spendor S8e, Triangles Antal EX, Usher 718be (all below £2K)

2nd hand: Acoustic Zen Adagio £2K (new £4K), ProAc D25 £1,300 (new £2.5K)
All very involving sound (although the Antal is a bit lively). The Adagio pair is superb but rare, they have ability to draw you into music that irresistible.

I listened to some PMC GB1's the other day and they were too forward for me - not saying they were bad, just not for me. I heard some Usher X719's at the weekend. I bought them.

Smooth, astonishing bass and lovely detailed top end. Would never have considered them if the missus hadn't seen them (very high WAF!) nestling in the corner.

Just my experiences, hope they are of some help,

Nice one Bloney, a great value for money pair they are. The "Be" version are even better but at cost though. Which shop did you visit?

Yeah - realy, reaqlly pleased with them - it's not a subtle change from the previous speakers! Still shocked at how good they are!
The place I got them from was called Audiofile Objective, near Bishops Stortford. They had some Epos M15.2 on HiFiForSale.com for half price. I phoned them up and the chap was great - he said he has about 90 pairs of speakers, so bring some CD's and try some out.

It's a funny little place in like an old sort of victorian work house type of place! Crammed with all sorts of speakers - Neat, Castle, Epos, etc etc and a fantastic collection of amps and stuff. I was in a little heaven. He's got a few bits on HiFiForSale.com - check it out. Well worth a visit if you're in the area!
Living Voice Auditoriums. Around £2100. Well worth a listen, if you can find them..
That is a great pair of speakers but imho buying Living Voice would go against the object of having such a powerful amp like A5.

Good point Thaiman. I just googled the A5 - didn't realise it was so powerful.

Now if the OP would offload it and buy a decent valve amp... lol..
