Speaker distortion

Hello. Can someone please help. When I play a vinyl record the right speaker sound is distorted, but when a cd is played everything is fine. This has only started to happen recently.

Your stylus may need a clean, but right channel distortion may be insufficient anti-skate so check your settings. If it is worse towards end of LP side then definitely the cartridge.

That sounds like an alignment (or dirt) problem with the cartridge on the turntable more than anything. What deck is it?

Thankyou for reply. It is a Project Genie 3 with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge.

No. Static is mostly a myth and rarely is heard, even if it does attract dust or crackle on your finger tips when you handle a disc.. If it does sound, you get single cracks as the charge earths itself. Static cannot cause distortion.
