Speaker crackle when I turn on Harmon Kardon amp

I was wondering if anyone could help? I have a Harmon Kardon AVR5550, and recently when I turn it on, the surround back left speaker crackles. This disappears after a few minutes, but can sometimes crackle into the beginning of a film. I have tried out the following remedies:
  • Swap the speaker (it is the speaker in the surround-back-left position which crackles, therefore I deduce nothing is wrong with the speaker).
  • Check the wiring at the back of the speaker (connected and fine).
  • Check the wiring at the amp (connected and fine).
This leaves me to deduce that it is something wrong with the amp. Is this a "return for repair" job, or does anyone have any experience of this problem?

Many thanks in advance,

Giles.

Sounds like that channel's amp has a loose connection. Is the receiver still under warranty? If so, just take it in for repair.

It's not under warranty I'm afraid - I've had it too long, however thanks for the heads up - that repair doesn't sound too costly!
