True enough.
And we all agree that 2.5 is more than enough to handle the required current.
So if we're specifying 6mm, why?
What actual difference would we expect to hear by using 2.5 instead?
Strangled highs, sucked-out mids, muted lows, less expansive soundstage, no 3D imaging, less cohesion, a thinness of reproduction directly correlated to cable thickness... I could go on :LOL: :poop:

Hi everyone

Keen to hear you're recommendations on speaker cable? I have just bought some PMC twenty5 24 speakers, paired with a Moon 240i.

Let me know your thoughts?

I would simply buy Cordial CLS 240 speaker cable.

  • Cable cross section: 2 x 4.0 mm²
  • Conductor design: 225 x 0.15 mm CU blank
  • Conductor resistance: 4.95 Ohm/km
  • Diameter: 9.5 mm
  • Weight: 160 g/m
They’re very good and incredibly cheap (by audiophile standards).
Cordial is a German pro audio cable manufacturer.

My experince with cordila cls 425 is that it's a very bright sounding cable, a good match for a Onkyo TX-8020 which to my are a very dark sounding amp

Because 2.5 mm is higher resistance. It has nothing to do with current handling capability but more to do with the damping factor of the amplifier being transferred to the speaker enabling it to control the speaker properly. You also don’t want the frequency response to track the speaker impedance curve.

I eventually got my answer.....that speaker cables make difference - and the difference is audible.
Now, where are the people who say that it doesn't matter what cable you use?
