System: Azur 340 Amp and Cd player, Avant 902i speakers (on loan ) on old Atacama stands (unfilled)...My question is this...does bi-wiring the speakers to amp make a difference? if so what cable would suit my system?...should the Chord Crimson interconnect make a difference?...should i buy new stands and have them filled? (but what should i fill them with?)...will a dedicated unit be better than sitting below my tv?...sorry so many questions but all help appreciated guys?....living room is approx 11.5' x 22' long

PS: I do have Tannoy Mercury F1's but these Avant 902i's are far better...well to my ears anyway

now you going to people saying this helps that helps. I think 1 change is no good. But all them changes you say i think will make a massive improvent imo its 10 little changes make a nice change.

first as long as you units(amp,cd player) can breathe i think you are fine.

then if your speaker cable is say £2 a metre or more again i think you will be fine

that interconnet is bang on no problems i can see

then people fill there stands with sand, so no harm in doing that

then i would make sure you are centre of you speakers slightly toed in and make a nice equal triangle with you just at the end of the point that has worked really well for me and try and get 6-10 inchs from the back wall with you speakers.

things like mains and powerblocks are the iceing on the cake imo

you will get people who are far more in the know than me comment this is just me trying to help no be pushy or rude all the best.

Try a thick speaker cable like 4mm 532 strand, which can be had from FleaBay for just over a pound a metre. If it's no good, then you haven't lost any money. Works for me.

If you have money set aside for this, the the crimson interconnect will spot on, and it's worth buying some decent speaker cable, but don't go crazy. If it were me I'd take whatever money I was prepared to spend on the speaker cables and get the best cable I can for single wiring the speakers - in my experience that will be better than than biwiring with a cable that costs half as much.

Filling (not necessarily all the way up but somewhere between 1/2 and full) the speaker stands with kiln-dried sand, or Atacama atabites (metal chippings) should make a difference, improving the bass by making the stands more inert.
