Anyone got a blu ray player with a source direct setting and use it with the Pioneer 5090 screen? Is that better than using the player's video processing first?

Thanks

I do have one (a Panasonic BD55) but I'm thinking of upgrading, perhaps to one which has a source direct e.g Denon, Oppo.

Had a look at PJPro's threads but could not see one that was relevant to my question. Have I missed it?

Thanks

I do. Its the Oppo BDP-83(modified region-free for Blu-Ray & DVD from CRT Projectors). I use it on Source Direct for Blu-Ray as well as DVD playback as this gives the cleanest picture. I hear that the Oppo's Anchor Bay Upscaler is very good but so is the Kuro's own upscaler and in comparison, I prefer the latter.

Thanks obsso. This makes me think that the (digital) video processing in players is redundant if used with a screen as good as the Pioneer.

Does anyone have a technical view on this point?
