Soundbar Supertest

Has WHS&V ever had a supertest on soundbars?I've seen first tests on various models in the past but I don't remember ever seeing a round up of all the different ones.Yamaha have just released some new models,so it would be interesting to see if any come close to proper surround sound without the wires....

No, we haven't. But we are going to carry out a Group Test very shortly: it'll appear in the next Ultimate Guide to TV. We're keen to include at least one of the new Yamaha models in that test, of course.

Are these soundbars a serious challenge to regular 5.1 systems, particularly for small box rooms.

Do you need an AV reciever such as an Onko 606, or are they an intergrated all-in-one system?

While waiting for the reviews, can anyone give me a list of the best soundbars on the market so I can do some research myself.

And How about some nice 2.1 systems in the group test?

Currently I'm swinging between the 40D and the Denon s302 and the Onkyo LSV501.
