Sound through amp

I've had a Panasonic 42" GT30 a couple of weeks.I have a Blu ray,a HD recorder/tuner & the BT vision box connected to the amp by HDMI & to the TV by hdmi from the amp.If i watch tv via the TVs tuner the sound goes to the amp by optical.

If i watch tv from any of the tuners i get PCM showing on the amps display,it was also PCM before i changed the TV.There is one exception & i'm curious as to why/how this happens.

On BBC 1 HD,fed to the amp by optical,the amp is showing PL11X & 5 speakers in it's display.Anyone know why this is happening on just one channel.

I'd suggest that the programme you were watching was in stereo only and the amp switched to PLIIX because it didn't detect a surround signal. Perhaps?

Thanks for responding,i find it a strange one.It doesn't bother me,i was just curious.I forgot to say that it happens on one prog. only,Strictly Come Dancing.I know,i should get a life,but i like it.
