Hi,

I got given 2x4ft sound proofing wave sponge from a mate, who said you place it on the walls to get better sound and is reduces vibrations and outside noise. Does anyone know how exactly you position these? Is there some sort of measurement/calcuations that need to be done?

Sit where you usually sit, get someone to go along the side walls with a mirror. When you can see your front speakers in the mirror, that's where to put the sponge thing.

Above links should give more info than you really need.

Much will depend on your current room. Size, amount of glass/reflective surfaces, wall material, furnishings, size and shape of room etc.

My guess is yes, if they're causing problems.

As you only have one sheet though, the 2 side walls seem the most obvious to try first.

If your listening position is close to rear wall, maybe use same technique on that.

The idea is to stop the first feflection from speaker to wall to listener. These will arrive at the ear a little after the direct sound from the speaker and are still quite loud. They have the effect of slurring timing of notes.

Try temporarily blutacking and experiment first to see where it helps most.

Hi,

I have another question, how do you know what size area to cover, also do the wavy sponges face the wall ?

Part 1 is down to experimentation, Part 2 the 'wavy sponges' face into the room.

I take it furniture in those places would do the same job?
