whens an online review expected? sony`s making great claims reg picture performance on its rgb-led backlight equipped sets on its uk website. It would be interesting to know if it can outperform pioneer`s kuro sets.
Another publication has just tested Sharps new 52" RGB LED backlit set and it apparently is as good as Pioneers 60" Plasma with superb test results in every area. Not sure if it's better than the Kuro as that very set received the same 5/5 test result in the same edition.
Problem is, the Sharp (which I believe supplies the panels to Sony this year) costs £9000 and the Kuro is somewhere around £4k.
I got the 5090 and posted a few things today elsewhere if you're interested in my opinion. I am sure someone somewhere will manage to wring out a tad more 'performance' at some stage but of what I've seen so far I have to ask myself do I really need a better picture? It is unbelievably good.
Personally I'd go the pj route for anything else with my next upgrade.
I have always liked the Kuro sets but until recently thought they were too expensive but looking at some of the crazy prices wanted from Sony & Sharp for their top end Kuro competing TV's, the Pio's with the recent discounts are looking like bargains!ÿ
We have the 55x on display alongside our KRP500a. The X is very very good and exceptionally close to the Pioneer. On TV in particular the difference is very small which was surprising. Colour is strong and consistent and blacks are plasma like, more natural than forced. All in all it is a very good TV.
We are looking to take the Sharp screen into store in the New Year so it will be good to see how it compares.
IMO, the Pioneer 500A still beats the Sony X4500. PQ looks more natural and life like. No doubt that the Sony X4500 is probably among one of the best LCDs on the market.
