I have just come back from living in the USA where I bought a Sony 46XBR5 full HD TV. I have fitted it up to a Virgin HD set top box through a HDMI cable. I can get sound but no picture. It is 110v-240v, so power is OK. My son has fixed his PS2 to it and gets a good picure. Can anyone help me get a picture on this lovely TV? Should I just pay Sony to fit a new engine into it?

Is this US model able to accept a PAL signal? I know My coucins in the States often get anoyed as their US DVD player will not play PAL discs so maybe it's the same with your TV.

So is there a HD converter from NTSC to PAL? I was told that it would make no difference as I was using a HDMI cable from a HD set top box.

I should think it's possible that the frame rate is throwing the TV out - the old difference between 50Hz UK TV signals and 60Hz US. For some reason, TVs sold in Europe seem to be able to handle 60Hz/NTSC US TV perfectly well, but the reverse isn't true.

I think any transcoder would be rather pricey, and the results will be unpredicatble. Unless, of course, someone else on here knows otherwise...
