just bought a used Sony STR-DH790 receiver. I use it with only two speakers, listening to my vinyl records. How do I change the balance of speakers (the right speaker should be little louder than the left one? I don't have subwoofer, how do I increase bass, if necessary?
A, you bought a surround sound receiver when you're only using two loudspeakers. That's a big waste of amplification, inputs, and an overly complicated remote for one single stereo source.
B, you bought an AV receiver to use with one single source.
C, the balance of all speakers are in the menu system, quite easy if you read the instructions - even if you don't have instructions, they can be found online after Googling said manual.
D, both speakers should be the same volume level, unless you're sitting off centre or have a hearing problem.
E, not having a subwoofer is another reason not to buy an AV receiver.
F, increasing bass will also be in the aforementioned manual.
G, if you want more bass, you could add a subwoofer, and utilise the associated connections and settings in relation to the subwoofer, and get more VFM out of buying an AV receiver.
