just bought a used Sony STR-DH790 receiver. I use it with only two speakers, listening to my vinyl records. How do I change the balance of speakers (the right speaker should be little louder than the left one? I don't have subwoofer, how do I increase bass, if necessary?

Welcome to the forum Andy.
In the Sound Effects menu is the Equaliser function that is basically Bass and Treble control. Not sure about balance, is that because of speaker positioning or your hearing?
Not ideal in a two channel role however as you will be limited on the speakers you can use and how you connect them with the only option being thin bare wire.

A basic receiver is what I wanted in the first place. Yamaha has a good sound for my vinyls, I already have RIIA, balance control is in remote contfol, speaker connections are good enough for me. So, why not...?

And what comes to sound differences with amps or things like that, I believe that most of people don't hear any differences, they just pretend to be high sensitive persons with "golden ears"

You never mentioned the phono preamp. That's why. Best of luck. I am out of here.
