I'm looking for a new LCD? because I don't have much space I have more or less settled on the Sony KDL32W4000, BUT I can just manage to accomodate the Toshiba 40ZF355D compact size.

The question is what would be best, the better write up of the 32 inch Sony or the extra screen size of the 40 inch Toshiba?. Or is any of the 37 inch Panny's more suitable? I watch HD tv, DVD's and have 5.1 sound system.

Your opinions will be appreciated.

Bondy.

Panny 37PX80. Best buy 37" on this site. Check the reviews. Can now get it for £569.

Viewing distance will be about 3 mtrs, I have viewed the Sony and the Toshiba. With the Sony colours looking better but the larger Toshiba picture seemed more impressive and maybe not as sharp. No really considered the Panny until mentioned by rewerb.(thanks for that)

With the Toshiba at £1000+ the Sony at £760 and the Panny at £570 I have two saying that cover most things in life.

You only get what you pay for. Make sure you get value for your money!

Perhaps one of the What hifi staff could say what they would pick?

Prof is right - you really should see (and hear) the sets in action, because it depends on what you need the set to do.

For example - Sony is a superb set, but it is only 32in: sitting from 3m away, that could seem a little small to some people. Then again, you might look at it and think 'that's huge - no bigger than that, thanks!'

The Panasonic is probably the best-value TV around, offering better colour-handling, black reproduction and motion than the majority of its LCD rivals. But then it only sounds average - it's ideally used in conjunction with an external home cinema sound system.

The Toshiba, meanwhile, sounds really good by flatscreen standards, and does fit a 40in screen into a smaller space - and very stylishly so. But it can't quite match the picture performance of the best sets.

So, all have pros and cons, and only you and your individual requirements/tastes can decide which is best!

Keep in mind plasmas i.e. the Panny will give you more inches for your money. They're generally cheaper than an LCD of equivalent size unless you're looking at buying a Pioneer.
