That's got me looking even more forward to what hifis review. This review says input lag at 7ms, perfect for gamers such as myself and oldboy

Now you are talking! This looks like the ideal set to replace my 46HX853 in the living room as I really wanted to go up to a 55inch this year and with a lag time of 7ms you can count me in if I can get the cash together towards the end of the year when I would hope the price has fallen.

As a gamer this looks like the ideal set to give me a good balance between movie and game performance, it would seem Sony has started to turn their tv division around and that last year wasn't just a one off fluke. Really looking forward to the WHF reveiw now.

If anyone gets one please post your thoughts on it, would really appreciate a review.

The unboxing video posted by WH HIFi on the new Sony W9 TV made my day,

it came on a plain box rather than one with a colour advert. It looked lighter too which is a good.Looked solid too.

As for the non tilt screen on this new set,I personally never saw any benefits of it on the HX 853, I rather see it swing sideways as I'll have mine in a bed room as I am a student.

That is a much, much better looking set than last years. Personally prefer Plasma, but if I had been looking for an LED set last year then the slanting design and 'width of screen' stand on last years model would have been a show-stopper for me. Overall though, nice to see Sony back on form with their TV's after having lost their way for while.

agree plasma generally appears to be the better tv, but with my issues with my Panasonic tv still ongoing and not looking to be resolved soon I've been looking at alternatives that aren't Panasonic as I'm not sure i want the hassle again should I get an issue with my tv. Samsung top models I can count out because they have the silly stand design that uses the entire tv, my tv looks ok over hanging my av stand as it doesn't sit on the av stand, but having the stand and tv over hang, no thanks. Lgs lag is a problem as I'm a gamer, ideally a 50" would be enough, but this is only 7cm wider than the panny for an extra 5". That now brings it into serious contention when deciding what tv to buy should i ever get my current issue resolved! I'd buy in 6months as well hopefully once the prices have gone down a bit

I notice that the 55W905A has a DVB-S tuner. Just wondering will it only upscale SD if its using its built in tuner? Will it also upscale SD from my Humax FoxSat which is connected by HDMI?

I'm having a DAB aerial installed shortly and wondering if its worth getting another cable run from the LNB of the dish in preparation for the 55W905A.

Many thanks!

Would there likely to be any picture quality improvement over using the TV's internal tuner for Freesat compared with the Humax Foxsat?

If its unlikely or just marginal I'll just stick with the current setup and avoid the additional expense.

Is there any possibility that this model might finally allow full IP control via Ethernet (inc power on)? There were rumors about this at CES 2013 but would love to know if this has materialized. I rather think not with the lack of any mention on any reviews that I have seen to date.

I'm slightly disappointed by that it didn't get a 5 star rating but I think the review is fair. Fortunately, viewing angle isn't an issue for me given our room layout but it is for the vast majority of people. So the Sony is going to get the product of the year award but its not top of my shortlist. So I'm still looking forward to demo-ing it.
